He is a qualified engineer who has worked in the air conditioning industry for most of his career but is now a NatHERS for Existing Homes Assessor, a Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessor and a Certified Passive House Consultant focused on designing the building to require less heating and cooling, rather than putting in a massive air conditioner to overcome poor building design.
He is based in Adelaide, but his knowledge and experience covers most of South Australia.
His mission is to help people reduce greenhouse gases and running costs of people’s homes. This applies to:
Primarily, he wants to help you make the most cost-effective decision to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while still achieving aesthetically pleasing, functional homes that you want to live in.
Clive takes an innovative approach and has won several awards and prizes (e.g. a finalist in the SA Engineering Excellence Awards). He has presented at conferences and authored the book ‘House Taming, How to reduce Greenhouse Gases in Comfort’. He is familiar with the following approaches to energy rating for building approvals:
- First Rate
- Deemed to Comply (if you are doing an energy efficient build to exceed the minimum star rating this may be the easiest approach as you are likely to exceed the minimum specified building performance)
- Passive House Planning Package (as an alternative solution)
